Pre-selling
As
an affiliate marketer, this is the essence of your job: pre-selling.
What
does that mean?
I
like to use the example of telling a friend about a good movie
that you've seen. You simply share your experience - what you
liked and what you didn't, along with a recommendation that
it's a good movie to see.
You
aren't trying to "sell" anything. If your friend trusts
you and you have a good rapport, then they will tend to believe
in your opinion.
Maybe
every visitor to your site isn't a close friend - but by using
a casual, conversational writing style you can quickly gain
a degree of rapport. This is especially true if the person doesn't
feel that you're trying to sell; Just tell your experience.
"The
More You Tell, the More You Sell"
Some
wrong approaches:
Some good
approaches:
- Share your
unique experience.
- Share the
unique experience of someone else.
- Offer bonuses
Frankly, I
believe so strongly that you offer your unique voice to the selling
process that I'm reluctant to write ads, articles, endorsements
- even create banners - for you. I don't use those things myself
- not the ones provided out of the box by other affiliate programs
I promote.
Which sounds
better to you . . .
"This
is the most amazing personal development program in the world.
Just release for 30 minutes per day and you can have anything
you want - even sitting on your butt!"
or
"This
past February my family had one of the toughest experiences anyone
can endure: we lost almost everything to a house fire. Although
most people expected we'd feel devestated by the experience, we
just kept using the Release Technique to find peace and calm.
As a result, six months later - starting with almost nothing -
our lives are better in almost every way. The Release Technique
helped us get through the tough times and now we are thriving
- financially, in our relationships, physically and emotionally."
